Congratulations to our Firstbank Clare branch for being voted #1 bank in Clare by the readers of the Clare County Review! We are so happy to be a part of the Clare community and appreciate the trust and support that our customers have shown. Thank you to all who voted for us, we are truly honored by this award.

On December 21st Santa was able to take a few minutes out of his very busy schedule to stop by our Lakeview office and visit with kids, adults and even our very own Fortune Freddy! About 20 lucky children were able to talk with Santa, enjoy refreshments and take home a goody bag to commemorate the day. Thanks for stopping by Santa, we hope you can come and visit again next year!
In Belding we held our 16TH Annual Giving Tree program. The pictures tell the whole story; we were very fortunate and received many gifts for each of the 29 children in the Belding community this year. We were also able to provide a delicious holiday dinner with all the trimmings for each of 13 families. Denny Heffron, from Heffron Farms was generous enough to donate chickens and turkeys for the cause. The other items & cash donations were brought in from the Belding Community, including toothbrushes for the whole family donated by Dr. Matthew Cooper of Belding as well as hand knitted hats for each of the children.
Firstbank is dedicated to the communities that we represent. During the holidays our West Michigan branches showed just that by once again by collecting donations for Toys for Tots. It was a true team effort this year, with our branches serving as a drop off location for toys, food and monetary donations; we were able to collect enough items to adopt 15 families received a Christmas meal which consisted of turkey, vegetables mashed potatoes, stuffing and pie. We were also able to collect 2 gifts for each of the 34 children. We greatly appreciate the generosity of our staff and customers for their help in making this possible and an extra special thank you to McCord’s Farm Market in Ionia for providing the turkey and frozen pies.
Our Ionia Main office as well as our Southside office also held their annual Mitten Tree event which collects hats, mittens, and scarves to donate to the Ionia Public Elementary Schools. One of our customers knitted several pairs of mittens and generously donated them all.
On December 7th, representatives from our Canadian Lakes, Remus, Lakeview and Howard City branches attended the annual Mecosta County Chamber Gala and Fundraiser. There were over 275 people in attendance to support the activities of the Chamber and all they do for the community.

Today, Santa’s elves were on hand to serve lunch to the staff as they donated money or brought in a new, unwrapped toy for our Toys for Tots Drive. We have a very generous staff at our Corporate Operations Center and our Firstbank Alma locations and we collected a large variety of great toys as well as $286 for Toys for Tots. This year Toys for Tots in Gratiot County will make the holidays brighter for more than 650 children within the county!
If you are interested in donating to Toys for Tots and haven’t had an opportunity to do so, all of our Firstbank - Alma locations are excepting cash donations for Toys for Tots and there is still a box at Wal-Mart where you can drop off any new, unwrapped toys until Christmas Day.

Running is a passion for many of our Firstbank staff! Pictured here are members from our West M20 team; Ryan Speelman, Amy Ervin and Nick Krueger who participated in the 5K Run held during the annual Dickens Christmas Festival in downtown Mt. Pleasant on November 30 and December 1. Proceeds from the run benefit the local downtown area as well as the Striders Running Club. Dickens Christmas Festival is a tradition in Mt. Pleasant and features carolers, a lighted Christmas parade, and of course an opportunity for the little ones to see Santa and his reindeer!

On November 7th, The Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation’s Women Initiative held its’ annual “Looks Who’s Talking” event luncheon. This year’s speaker was Molly Barker, author and founder of Girls on the Run. Girls on the Run is a national council focused on helping young girls build and recognize their inner strength through activity and exercise.
The event was attended by 420 area women including our Firstbank team. Pictured here are; Amy Ervin, Faye Cole, Tracey Sallee, Teresa Rupert, Women’s Initiative Committee Member Cheryl Gaudard, Mary Kaye Plume, Karen McKenzie, Missy Lau, Michelle Barker.
Firstbank is focused on our community and that is why we invite you come and help us decorate the Mitten Tree this year! We are collecting hats, scarves, and mittens to be donated to Project Christmas to provide warm winter items for local children. We will be accepting donations in either of our Cadillac locations now through December 6th. Giving back to our friends and neighbors is what we are all about! Happy Holidays from all of us at Firstbank!
