The changing of the seasons can be such a beautiful time of year! The change in seasons also brings lots of fun festivities for fall! The staff at our St. Louis office recently enjoyed participating in a light pole decorating contest in downtown St. Louis. They had a great time creating “Franken Freddy" while using many of the traditional decorations of the season to bring a great autumn flavor to St. Louis.
We’re committed to doing our part to protect the environment and keep our planet safe for generations to come! Have you ever considered what happens to all of the batteries that you throw away? Batteries that end up in landfills and incinerators eventually end up in our environment and/or the food chain, which can cause serious health risks to us and our animals. We’re excited that there is now a better option to dispose of old batteries. The Alma Main Office now offers FREE battery recycling. We can all make this world a little greener simply by recycling our batteries instead of tossing them in the trash.
*Unfortunately, vehicle batteries (car or motorcycle) and those with liquid electrolytes cannot be accepted at this time.

Firstbank Branch Manager, Joan Welke, completed her first 5K run on Saturday, June 23rd. Joan chose to compete in her first run as part of Firstbank’s 5k run that promoted health and wellness and benefitted Relay for Life as well. She was joined by her husband, Ray, who has completed multiple runs in the past. Joan did so well that Ray has already signed her up for another 5K in August! Congratulations on finishing your first 5K, and good luck on the next, Joan!
On Saturday, June 23rd, Firstbank held it’s first annual 5k event to benefit Relay for Life. 33 employees/family and friends participated in the event raising a total of $380 for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. This was the first 5k competition many of the staff members had competed in and everyone had a great time joining together to raise money to support the fight against cancer.
Not only did this event raise money for a great cause that Firstbank is proud to support, but everyone that participated was also a winner by becoming active and engaging in exercise to improve their overall health and wellness. Firstbank has an extensive wellness program that donated door prizes for the event and many of the participants also took home a great prize as an additional bonus for their participation.
We are proud to congratulate the following Firstbank team members for being voted the Best of the Best in the Gratiot County 2012 People's Choice Awards:
# 2 Diane Kirkey
# 3 Kathleen Weaver
At Firstbank, we value all of our employees and their dedication and commitment to serving the community.
