On Saturday, June 23rd, Firstbank held it’s first annual 5k event to benefit Relay for Life. 33 employees/family and friends participated in the event raising a total of $380 for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. This was the first 5k competition many of the staff members had competed in and everyone had a great time joining together to raise money to support the fight against cancer.
Not only did this event raise money for a great cause that Firstbank is proud to support, but everyone that participated was also a winner by becoming active and engaging in exercise to improve their overall health and wellness. Firstbank has an extensive wellness program that donated door prizes for the event and many of the participants also took home a great prize as an additional bonus for their participation.
We are proud to congratulate the following Firstbank team members for being voted the Best of the Best in the Gratiot County 2012 People's Choice Awards:

The Alma College Wellness Committee in conjunction with the State Road Animal Hospital and Firstbank hosted a Petpalooza on Wednesday, May 23rd. The event was a finale for Firstbank and Alma College’s Walk The Dog* (*Dog Optional) spring wellness program. There were many special events for both children and adults including a pet costume contest, animal art, pet portraits, a pet look alike contest, and DJ Cyrus "Hounddog" Zerbe spun everyone’s favorite animal hits. Special guests attended from Diversified Alpacas in St. Louis. Thank you to everyone who attended and participated in this wellness program!

Firstbank is proud to take part in National Teach Children to Save Day every year! Last week, staff members from many of our local branches were in eight different school districts and talked to approximately 661 students about the importance of budgeting and saving. We feel that by reaching out to children, we can help them become financially responsible and money-wise at an early age. Our goal is to develop financial awareness and create positive attitudes about money management.

Firstbank's very own camel, Firstbank Fiona, won two separate awards at the Merrill Farm Fest. Decorated by our Merrill Assistant Branch Manager, Julie Goss, Fiona won the Best Dressed award!
In addition to being the best dressed, Fiona was chosen as the overall champion in the camel races. In order to win the came race, Fiona was the most bet on camel and raised the most money out of all of the camels. Way to go, Fiona!
